Alyssa recently completed her bachelor’s degree in Honors Biomedical Science from York University with the goal of pursuing medical school. Her background in the biological sciences and global health has led her to take an interest in the interdisciplinary nature of health.

I’m an undergraduate Applied Mathematics student with a deep passion for exploring the practical applications of mathematics in the real world. One area that particularly excites me is the intersection of mathematics, computer science, and sustainability and how computational mathematics can play a pivotal role in addressing the various environmental challenges we face today. As a lover of all things related to discovering the world around us, I strive to make a meaningful impact through the power of mathematics and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Haleema Ahmed is a 2nd year Biomedical Sciences student at York University with an interest in youth, journalism, and health.

Amy is a fourth-year student studying applied mathematics at the University of Toronto. She is interested in the intersection of health and climate change. She hopes to continue researching  the health impacts of climate change through mathematical and data science methodologies in graduate school.

I am a fourth-year student pursuing a dual major in Computer Science and Mathematics, driven by a keen interest in leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to solve complex problems. During my internship at Sunny Research Institute, I served as both a research assistant and software developer, where I specialized in using graph neural networks to predict breast cancer stages. Additionally, I developed a custom application that streamlined the research pipeline for our lab, enabling automated workflows and flexible parameter adjustments.
Currently, I am contributing to research at Dalla Lana School of Public Health under the mentorship of Professor Jude Kong and Zahra Movahedi Nia. My focus is on predicting hotspots for avian influenza virus outbreaks across North America, utilizing advanced mathematical and machine learning models. My passion lies in integrating knowledge from mathematics, algorithms, and programming to uncover insightful patterns in data and advance research across diverse fields.

Lavneet is a 2nd year engineering student at UofT with a keen interest in relating theoretical math and engineering concepts with their practical aspects in healthcare and medicine. He actively engages in UofT’s Engineering Society, currently serving as the Chief Electoral Officer. With a passion to learn as much as possible while being able to help others, Lavneet strives to pursue his studies in biomedical engineering.

I am a fourth-year mathematics and computer science student at UofT. I have an interest in applied maths and would like to pursue graduate studies in related fields.

I am an undergraduate computer science student passionate about web development, mathematics, and machine learning. Specifically, I am interested in language models and how they can be used to make predictions, automate processes and enhance user experiences. This is exemplified through my past experience with natural language processing research and machine learning projects that implement the ChatGPT API and other pre-built models. My goal is to leverage my knowledge in AI to help bridge the gap between human communication and computer interaction.

I’m currently a third-year student at the University of Toronto, transitioning into my fourth-year next month after the summer. My major is in Mathematics and Statistics, with a minor in Computer Science. I’m currently working as a research assistant on a project focused on the Mathematical Modelling of Malaria with Vaccination.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a dual major in Mathematics and Computer Science. My academic interests are deeply rooted in Machine Learning and Applied Mathematics, with a particular focus on computational mathematics. I am passionate about exploring the intersection of these fields to solve real world problems and develop innovative algorithms. I am eager to contribute to cutting-edge projects that leverage computational techniques to advance the fields of artificial intelligence and mathematics.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a Mathematics major, Quantitative Biology major, and Statistics minor. I am deeply interested in applying quantitative methods to answer biological questions. I hope to research mathematical and statistical models to address issues in public health.
