Research Mission

At AIMMLab, we design and deploy AI and mathematical models that translate complex, multi-source data into real-time insights for public health, climate resilience, and equitable communities. Our work spans foundational modelling, machine learning, and data science always anchored to problems that matter for people and policy.

A flagship expression of this mission is the AI for Pandemic and Epidemic Preparedness (AI4PEP) Network, directed by Prof. Jude Kong. Through AI4PEP, AIMMLab's methods and tools scale globally reaching 230+ researchers across 23 countries to build locally relevant, scalable AI systems that strengthen health system resilience and support evidence-based policy decisions worldwide.

A defining feature of our approach is the integration of unconventional data sources social media signals, mobility patterns, environmental indicators, and disinformation trends alongside traditional epidemiological data. This enables early warning systems and predictive models that are both technically rigorous and community-informed.

Across all of our work from AIMMLab's core research to AI4PEP's global network, we are committed to responsible AI: transparent, accountable, and aligned with the social and ethical contexts in which these systems operate.
