In a groundbreaking initiative, the Africa-Canada Artificial Intelligence and Data Innovation Consortium (ACADIC) is leveraging AI, predictive modeling, and simulations to bolster data-driven decision-making in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic across Africa.

Dr. Jude Kong, Assistant Professor at York University in Canada, is at the helm of this transformative effort. Supported by Canada’s International Development Center (IDRC), Dr. Kong leads an interdisciplinary team comprising over 50 researchers from key academic and government institutions across eight African countries.

One of ACADIC’s flagship achievements is the development of COVID-19 monitoring dashboards. These dashboards provide vital information to the public and policymakers, aiding in the prevention and control of the pandemic. Notably, these dashboards have been adopted as the official monitoring tools in several African countries, playing a crucial role in the management of vaccination programs.

The innovative work of ACADIC underscores the power of international collaboration and technological innovation in addressing global health challenges.
